DEFINITION OF PSYCHOLOGY:

The word Psychology is derived from Greek word psycho & logos.’Psycho’means “soul” & ‘logos ‘ means “science”.That means”The science of soul”.
“Psychology is Scientific method of collecting data about individual and groups to analyze and predict their behaviour.”
“Psychology is positive science of the behaviour of living beings”
“Psychology is the scientific study of the activities of the individual in relation to his environment” –Woodworth.

1)Basic Brances- (General, Abnormal, developmental, Experimental, social Psychology.)

2)Applied Brances-(Educational, Clinical,Industrial,Forensic, Health,Personality Psychology.)EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY ::

Educational Psychology is a branch of applied psychology which deals with behaviours of the organism when he is under the influenc of the social process of education.
“Educational Psychology may be defined as the science which describes and explains the changes that take place in individuals,as they pass through various stage of development from birth to maturity “.-C.H Judd.
“Educational Psychology is the study of the experience and behaviorof the learnersin relation to educational environment.”

FUNCTIONS /AIM /OBJECTIVES OF EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY :-

1)to afford a through knowledge of the nature of the child.
2)to provide understanding of the nature aims & purpose of education.
3)To provide a significant knowledge of development process with particular emphasis upon the promotion, guidence,and control of mental aspects.
4)to develop right attitude in the teachers about the educational problems. 5)to conducting research.
